[Exclu] Beddit unveils its 3 projects for 2015

On the occasion of the Wearable Technology Show 2015, the Finnish company Beddit, at the origin of the famous sleep sensor, took the opportunity to officially announce the next version of its smart health smart health connected object. If until now it had been necessary to activate the sensor every night from the mobile application so that it records the data, the new version of Beddit will automatically detect when the user goes to bed. She also confided in us on two projects under development.

Beddit places itself in a different niche than the Withings Aura

It’s thanks to a motion sensor as well as iBeacon technology that the device can communicate directly with a smartphone to tell it to trigger the sleep sensor. This is a new step in the life of the start-up which will most likely be able to boost its sales with this feature. As a reminder, in 2013 the company had real success on IndieGoGo by raising more than $ 500,000, against only $ 80,000 expected…

Admittedly, the Beddit is less sophisticated than the French Withings Aura which is riding the same trend, but it is also significantly less expensive (€ 299 for the Aura, € 149 for the Beddit). Among the measures taken into account by Beddit, we count in particular the heart rate, respiration, sleep cycles and their duration. Aura adds measurement of temperature, sound and light. It also has a light device to place on the bedside table which helps promote sleep.

What projects for Beddit in 2015?

On the occasion of the conference, the founder of Beddit has entrusted to us exclusively on the brand's projects. Besides this new version of the device which automatically detects sleep (for having tested the classic version to activate every night, this functionality is really welcome!), the start-up would think of two additional projects by the end of this year.

In this case, we can expect a new sleep sensor that will be suitable for couples. In this case, the tape that must be placed on the mattress currently to record sleep is content to measure the nuptial activity of a single user. In the coming year, Beddit may well be releasing a longer version that is the full width of the bed and can then measure the sleep of two couples. It would just add to the new Beddit Family interface that the company has released, which makes it possible to collect all the data from family sensors on a single mobile application.

In addition, Beddit plans to release a mobile version for those who move around a lot. For the time being, the strip sticks and peels off the mattress without problem, but not endlessly. After a while, the glue gets invaded by the fabric, and the tape no longer really sticks.

Promo code for the Beddit

For the Wearable Technology Show, Beddit also offers a promo code to use on its official website. A 30% reduction is applied on the sleep sensor until March 13, 2015. You will have to be quick since this promotion is only valid for a few days!
