Fever Smart, the thermometer permanently smart health connected!

[ad_1]

Fever Smart, an American start-up formed by 4 students from the University of Pennsylvania, unveils its eponymous product: the first smart health connected thermometer capable of recording data continuously, coupled with a mobile application!

Billed as a "wireless smart thermometer," the Fever Smart comes in the shape of a pebble that fits in the palm of your hand. The device is placed under the armpit. The companion application then records the detected temperature and thus offers you a graph detailing the evolution of the individual's temperature. The app is also able to send an alert to the smartphone in case of high temperature; this is where we find the interest in parental use recommended by the manufacturer.

Unlike conventional thermometers, the Smart Fever has the distinction of recording a temperature continuously: this avoids unpleasant surprises in the middle of the night. The data collected can be transmitted to a doctor who will analyze it without problem, due to the ease of use of the application.

Fever Smart has an autonomy of 120 days

It’s thanks to Bluetooth, in its version 4.0, that the thermometer can send its data to an Android or iOS smartphone which will store them in the cloud to make them accessible anywhere, anytime. Lightweight and space-saving, the device has the advantage of being comfortable and operating thanks to a simple battery that can be changed at any time. With one tenth of a degree of precision and an autonomy of 120 days, nothing to complain about!

You should know that there are other smart health connected thermometers, such as Kinsa, but the innovative functionality of the Fever Smart to continuously record data is lacking.

The firm said "it could not have made a smaller model because of the risk of suffocation".

Interview with Aaron Goldstein, CEO of Fever Smart

Stuffi : How did you come up with the idea for the Fever Smart?

Aaron Goldstein: This idea came from the personal experience of one of our co-founders, Collin Hill. He was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma, a form of blood cancer, before he could begin his studies at the University of Pennsylvania. So he had to undergo chemotherapy in order to beat his illness. During this treatment, Hill had to take his temperature constantly since he was more susceptible to infections.

One evening he went to bed after measuring a normal temperature, but it was only when he woke up in the middle of the night that he had to be taken to the emergency room because of a very high fever. Collin was frustrated that he could not have live temperature monitoring, warning him when it was too high. So we created the Fever Smart to solve this problem.

Stuffi : Tell us about the genesis of the project: how did you manage to make it happen?

Aaron Goldstein : We have created a team with diverse skills. We have experience in engineering, but also in business; that's how we were able to create and manufacture the product incredibly quickly. For this first year, we mainly focused on the hardware and the finalization of the project. We are now ready to launch it via a crowdfunding campaign on IndieGogo on September 17.

Stuffi : Tell us the history of your team and the chronology of the creation and assertion of your company.

Aaron Goldstein : Collin and I were friends, and together we were able to identify the problem that bothered him during his chemotherapy. We both have business experience, so we knew we needed more skills for our team: communication, health, and engineering. So we recruited Becca, who is in charge of communication, Dr. Evan Goldstein who is an emergency doctor and who has experience in the field of smart health connected health, and finally, William, our CTO, who is an engineer and knows the principles of production. Together, we brainstormed to create the design of the Fever Smart to move forward as soon as the device was designed.

Stuffi : How do you approach the competition with other smart health connected devices such as Kinsa, Cadi.Sense or Raiing? smart health connected health is a growing market!

Aaron Goldstein : The key to good hardware is good software. There are many similar devices on the market, but none have an ergonomic and easy-to-use software interface. We spent a lot of time chatting with parents and testing our different interfaces to find which one was the easiest for them. We have the nicest and easiest to use applications, which fully exploits the hardware potential of the object.

Stuffi : What are the next stages of the project?

Aaron Goldstein : The product is finished and ready for marketing. The crowdfunding campaign is coming soon: the first 100 units (Early Bird Special) will be sold for $ 99 (about € 75). The first thermometers will be shipped by the end of the year, and we will start looking for partners for international distribution.

Stuffi : How much will the product cost commercially? Will it also be sold to hospitals? Can this technology lend itself to this type of service?

Aaron Goldstein : The great thing about our smart health connected device is that it can be used in a multitude of situations. For example, parents can use it to monitoring their child's temperature (this is the initial target of our sales), but it can also be used to monitoring vital signs in a hospital. Women who want to have a baby can also use it to detect ovulation… There are lots of other possible uses. The Smart Fever will likely be sold for $ 179, so it will be a little cheaper on IndieGogo.

Stuffi : Is there anything else you can tell us about the Smart Fever?

Aaron Goldstein : It was created with the ideas of children and parents. After testing multiple iterations and different versions of the software, we believe we have the best product on the market!

We just have to wait for its release to find out!
