Fitbit engages in charity with FitForFood
[ad_1]
Fitbit wants to encourage Americans to play sports by motivating them by a good cause. To this end, the world leader in Quantified Self has teamed up with the charity Feeding America (the equivalent of our Restos du Coeur in the United States) for a challenge that will see society offering 1.5 million meals to people in need.
Called FitForFood, the challenge involves the wearers of smart health connected bracelets of the brand (including the last two sensors, the Charge HR and the Surge) since they will burn a billion calories to see Fitbit donate these meals to the association. The company will offer the equivalent of $ 0,00015 per calorie burned, or $ 150,000 in total. The campaign lasts a month and started on February 3, 2015. In the space of three days, more than 128 million calories have already been burned, so the record will likely be greatly exceeded.
Only Americans have access to this Fitbit challenge (fitforfood.fitbit.com). However, it would not be unlikely to see this type of initiative also happen in Europe. At least, that's what the brand's European Marketing Director told us at CES 2015 … Case to follow!
American actor Joel McHale teamed up with the brand for a ehealth to support the cause:
