Fitbit Force withdrawn from the market

[ad_1]

Bad news for the market leader in smart health connected bracelets, its latest model, the Force has just been recalled in the United States. The cause ? 1.7% of users experience irritation problems.

Fitbit says they are due to bacteria development, when others point the finger at the presence of nickel in the bracelet. Pending the outcome of the investigations, the bracelet is purely and simply withdrawn from the market.

Fitbit will refund the full price of the bracelet to anyone who chooses to return it. This new model was only available in the United States and the release date in Europe was constantly being shifted. This might explain that.

Flex to the rescue!

Pending the re-marketing of the Force, Fitbit will rely on its big brother, the Flex, which is on sale at 79 € at Amazon and available at ehealth for 99 €. The main differences between the two models are the presence of a real screen and a call notification system on the Force.

In the market for smart health connected bracelets, this is the second major recall after that of the Jawbone UP which had experienced serious reliability problems when it was launched. This recall had damaged Jawbone's brand image, will it be the same for Fitbit? The future will tell. See our guide to buying smart health connected wristbands.
