Fossil Sport smartwatch has the latest Qualcomm chip
The Fossil Sport smartwatch is Fossil's latest smart health watch. In addition to the impressive number of on-board sensors, it also integrates the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 chip; the processor designed to power the next generation of wearable devices running Google Wear OS.
The Fossil Sport is a colorful and light smart health watch. You can choose from six main colors for the case, two case sizes (41 mm and 43 mm) and 28 different silicone straps; which should be enough possible combinations for everyone. 18 or 22 mm belts can also be attached.
The mark indicates that the watch will be able to operate at least 24 hours on a single charge; with two additional days between charges in "battery saver" mode. Although there are no details on this, it is likely to involve disabling notifications and built-in sensors.
The Fossil Sport also has heart rate monitoring, NFC technology and GPS. You can Review your heart rate, make mobile payments and track your morning run without a smart health connected phone.
Regarding the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100, Google hopes it can generate some momentum in the Wear OS market. Watches with Google’s portable operating system have been stuck with the Snapdragon Wear 2100 for several years now; which means no improvement in performance or battery life, even if the Wear OS software has been updated.
The main improvement brought by the Wear 3100 is better energy efficiency; which should result in a longer battery life. A built-in coprocessor handles minor tasks, such as counting steps and running the permanent display. The goal is to lighten the pressure on the main processor a little.
As usual with Google wearable devices, the watch is compatible with Android and iOS smartphones, although Wear OS can go further in Android for more interactive notifications and seamless operation. On the software side, recent Wear OS updates include a more intuitive interface for Google Assistant; as well as a redesign of Google Fit to simplify its fitness tracking features.
The Fossil Sport costs $ 255 and can be ordered from the Fossil website today.
