Galaxy Buds – Are Samsung Headphones Better Than AirPods?

Samsung has just unveiled its Galaxy Buds headphones. Joining the Galaxy Watch Active and the Galaxy Fit fitness tracker, the new headphones seem quite similar to their predecessors. But Samsung has made some improvements.

The Galaxy Buds offer include a better sound, which has been changed by AKG; the Samsung sub-brand, acquired during the takeover of Harman in 2017.

The headsets once again use Samsung's “enhanced ambient sound” mode. It allows a certain amount of outside noise to infiltrate while the earbuds are in your ears. Each headset also has two microphones, one internal and one external; which should also help improve the clarity of conversations.

The battery life is pretty good. Samsung promises up to six hours of Bluetooth streaming and up to five hours of calls. Doesn't that seem like a lot to you? So be aware that the case provides up to seven hours of charge and, best of all, can charge just over 100 minutes of battery life in a 15-minute charge.

And if you have the new Samsung S10 smartphone, you can also use it to charge wireless headsets by simply placing the case on the handset; using Samsung’s new PowerShare feature. Galaxy Buds also work with Bixby on its Galaxy phones. You can use the Samsung Assistant to make calls, send messages, or check your remaining battery.

What is missing in the new Buds are features dedicated to athletes. So it looks like Samsung is focusing on audio, support, and boosting this battery.

In short, let's hope that Samsung has solved the Bluetooth problems of the Gear IconX. Although the battery life is only a little better than that of the IconX, fast charging on the Galaxy Buds is more efficient, and the additional option of charging using the S10 is rather neat .

Finally, like the Galaxy Watch Active, the Galaxy Buds will be launched on March 8. They will be available in white or black at a price of 149.99 euros.
