Garmin wants to find a place in the Quantified Self and has just announced two new products: Vivofit 3 and Vivoactive HR. The company wants to combine fitness and design.

Far behind the leaders Fitbit and Xiaomi, Garmin continues to improve its range, to offer products more consistent with market standards.

Garmin Vivofit 3

The Vivofit 3 incorporates the features of the previous model with daily activity monitoring, a backlit display and water resistance up to 50 meters. Garmin takes the opportunity to add an automatic detection of sports sessions, among which we find for the moment running, cycling, swimming and elliptical trainer. He is also able to detect the intensity of the effort during these sessions. The Vivofit 3 will have a one year battery life thanks to its battery, it is its big strong point.

The other real change is in the design, for which Garmin has called on Jonathan Adler, a luxury specialist who has proposed several more colorful and stylish models. The white and black versions will be available for $ 100, the extra $ 30 bracelet and the $ 40 Adler bracelets.

Garmin Vivosmart HR

The first generation Vivosmart was a very good sportwatch and Garmin wants to hit the nail with its HR version. As the name suggests, it includes a heart rate sensor that joins the GPS already present in the first version. Its color screen will allow you to receive notifications, follow sports sessions and install applications.

Autonomy on its side is 8 days in normal use and 13 hours with GPS mode enabled which places it in the best models on the market. The design has really evolved compared to the square model of the first version. The Vivosmart HR is closer to a Fitbit Surge, with an even longer screen. We are waiting to see it to judge, but it still seems imposing.
