Garmin updates its Vivosmart HR

Yesterday, Garmin's new fitness tracker, the Vivosmart HR + was presented by the famous brand. It is an improved and more precise version of its predecessor, and includes a built-in GPS.

Garmin has not been unemployed in recent weeks, with successive presentations of different wearables: theApproach X40 first, followed by Vivomove and, more recently, the Forerunner 735XT. Each of these bracelets is intended for different types of people: golfers, runners, or simply a user who wants to be more active. But beware, Garmin is not done yet. Today, the American company unveils its Vivosmart HR +, a fitness bracelet with a built-in GPS for a more precise location and better rhythm tracking.

An improved version of the previous Vivosmart HR

Thanks to this GPS functionality, the Vivosmart HR + will benefit from a few more advantages compared to its big brother, Vivosmart HR first of the name: a virtual pacer mode for training and the possibility of keeping track of his personal journey.

In terms of design, the HR + is practically identical to its predecessor, with a 160 x 68 touch screen and a single button on the bracelet. So the biggest improvement here is the GPS functionality which, in addition to the features mentioned above, will allow you to see a plan of your activities via the application Garmin’s Connect (available on Android and iOS).

All of this is in addition to the usual cardiac monitoring offered by the waterproof smart health connected bracelet.

Vivosmart HR + will be able to track your steps, your calories burned, floor areas, and what Garmin likes to call “the intensity of activity".

Like the original Vivosmart, this version offers smartphone notifications, as well as alerts in case of inactivity to make sure you stay on the move as much as possible.

Does it all sound too good? One caveat, however: the flip side is that the battery life is reduced. With the GPS active, you can enjoy your bracelet for about 8 hours, while the duration increases to 5 days if the function is inactive. So you will have to choose your settings carefully,

The Vivosmart HR + is available now at $ 220 (approx € 190) and has different colors, like the blue and black on the photo.
