GE to launch smart health connected light bulbs

Apple's HomeKit is currently the product of all attention. General Electric is one of those companies that are counting on it to accelerate its development and penetrate your health home.

HomeKit will therefore be compatible with smart health connected bulbs manufactured by General Electric. As highlighted in the company's press release, these color-changing LED lights will also incorporate the brand's Align technology, which helps regulate and improve your sleep cycles.

To control these bulbs, it will be possible to use an iOS and Siri device. With HomeKit, Apple aims to simplify health home automation as we know it today. The apple brand has created a common language that devices from all manufacturers can understand and support. With the use of Siri, control of smart devices can be done by voice.

In the past, GE has teamed up with Quirky to develop its smart health connected bulbs, but with Apple’s health home automation ecosystem, the American giant intends to confront Philips and its range of Hue smart health connected luminaires alone.

GE therefore joins the list of partners that Apple announced at WWDC in 2014; namely: iHome, Haier, Withings, Philips, iDevices, Belkin, and Honeywell.

At this time, we don't know when HomeKit will be available, but GE has said its bulbs will be available later in 2015.
