If Google can line up or be cheaper, the adoption curve for this type of product could accelerate exponentially.

Of course, we don't know what type of functionality could be lost with miniaturization. The Dot hadn't lost too much in functionality. It was mainly the number of speakers and microphones that was impacted. Anyway, a mini version could create a multi room installation, much more affordable than today.
