Google health home speaker unveiled at I / O conference
As expected, Google has finally officially presented its rival to the Amazon Echo. Known under the code name Chirp, the product will be the Google health home speaker.
The Google health home speaker was officially unveiled at the I / O 2016 conference. It is the result of 10 years of work on natural language recognition and 17 years of research and innovation. Google says these skills will allow health home to deal with the most complex issues quickly and accurately.
The voice-activated speaker will let you ask Google for almost anything and everything. Much like you would with your Android smartphone. It will also connect with smart health connected devices to manage your smarthome and your health home automation universe; including products from Nest (the health home automation subsidiary of Google). We wonder why this product does not directly integrate the brand's product range. It would have made more sense to have a Nest health home than a Google health home. The reason may be that it would have cannibalized the Nest Thermostat a little too much, which already acts as a health home automation hub.
One of the coolest things about this voice-activated speaker is being able to find less congested routes in terms of traffic and send it to you directly on your phone. Like Google Now, it will also be able to learn your preferences and habits in order to provide you with more personal responses over time. Google also plans to introduce more features at a later date, including the ability to book a taxi, order dinner, or order flowers. We understood that this new smart health smart health connected object will become your personal digital assistant.
Obviously, it will also be able to stream music from the cloud. You will be able to access all your favorite songs, playlists and artists. The Google health home speaker will work with Google Play … but not only that! It will work with third-party music services. You can also watch videos directly on your TV.
The question that we all ask ourselves obviously concerns the launch date of the product and its price. Google health home will be released later this year. We do not yet know the price of the product but it is very likely that it will be slightly below 200 euros. By the time it launches, it's a safe bet that Google hopes developers will create additional functionality to make it the perfect weapon to thwart Amazon's plans. Go for a walk on health home.google.com to make sure you receive all product information and updates.
Either way, it’s likely to be almost a global launch when it’s recalled that Amazon’s Echo product line is only available in the United States at this time. Nothing more normal since Alexa can only manage one language at the moment: English. I was in the starting blocks to buy an Echo as soon as it was available in France, I think my choice will ultimately go to the Google health home speaker … and in my opinion I will not be the only one.
To finish, here is a short ehealth from the Wall Street Journal which was present during the presentation of health home:
