Google joins Sanofi against diabetes

[ad_1]

We recently spoke about the new entity "Life Sciences" giant Google (a.k.a. Alphabet). After forming a partnership last week with Dexcom to develop a miniaturized solution against diabetes, he formalized a collaboration with the French Sanofi – still in the same sector.

Since we posted our top smart health connected objects to fight against diabetes, Google has been extremely active in the niche. Indeed, it was learned last week that the group's medical spin-off had partnered with Dexcom, an American company that already manufactures a glucose monitoring sensor. The goal of this collaboration is to eventually produce a similar sensor, but in miniature version.

Sanofi is therefore the second pharmaceutical company to rely on Google, after Novartis has announced a project for smart lenses able to measure blood glucose levels (the first tests will begin next year). Faced with a disease that affects more than 382 million people around the world, Google intends to partner with industry leaders to come up with a drastic solution. Why Sanofi? Simply because French is the world leader in insulin with its drug Lantus. Google would like to find a new way to inject insulin like Bluetooth pens that can accurately record doses administered.

This is not the first time Sanofi has been working on smart devices for diabetes. The French partnered with Medtronic last year to develop such products … before the partnership finally fell into the water, for lack of a concrete project.
