Google partners with Novartis for its smart health connected lenses

The Swiss pharmaceutical group Novartis has announced that it is in exclusive contact with Google to develop the first smart health connected lens, potentially capable of changing the lives of diabetics.

Last January, Google already announced that it was working on a smart health connected lens project to measure the blood sugar level and make life easier for diabetics. Today, it is in a press release that the Swiss laboratory Novartis which formalizes being in contact with the secret cell Google (x) to launch the group's first lens.

A unique association in health

It’s the division eyecare Novartis – Alcon – which will exclusively produce and market this technology, which it obtained the license from the Mountain View group (this transaction remains subject to approval by the competent competition authorities). On the other hand, Google will work on the electronic development of the lens, which can be smart health connected to a tablet or smartphone to retrieve the data measured on glucose. In addition, the two entities will work together to propose a new technological solution for presbyopes.
