According to a survey by Google, the firm is considering new health features for its Wear OS operating system for smart health connected watches.

In fact, this is an attempt to catch up in this area compared to Samsung, but especially Apple and Fitbit. Still with this in mind, Google recently bought Fitbit.

Google survey to improve the experience on Wear OS

The site Droid Life (via Engadget) therefore reports that in a user experience study, Google asked participants how to improve Wear OS. From the start, the questions asked revolve a lot around theadding health features.

Among these, those who have used or use smartwatches from Google’s competitors will recognize some. Thus, we find in the questionnaire the automatic detection of the beginning of a physical exercise or even thealert for irregular heart rate.

In addition, extensive sleep monitoring to identify serious disorders such as sleep apnea is also involved. Just like monitoring menstrual cycles and breathing exercises.

Less well-known health features

While the previous health features will be familiar to many consumers, Google is also considering some lesser known ones to improve Wear OS. For example, the firm asks participants if connect their watches to their sports equipment or medical interests them.

The presence of a SPO2 sensor for oxygenation of the blood as well as another for indoor air quality is also mentioned. Finally, Google is also interested in a microhistory of your activities.

As a reminder, there is no indication that Google will integrate these new features in the next version of Wear OS since it is only a survey. However, just seeing these questions emerging in such an open approach indicates theinterest of the giant for health on its smart health connected watches. Fitbit’s expertise shouldn’t be too much.
