Google unveils a smart health connected bracelet for medical use

[ad_1]

No, Fitbit’s successful IPO didn’t give Google any ideas for a physical activity sensor. The giant of Mountain View has just formalized that its secret cell Google X has been working for some time on a smart health connected bracelet capable of recording patient data to allow doctors to monitoring their health remotely, in real time.

Competing directly with Apple in the medical niche (note: Apple introduced ResearchKit last March, and collaborates with 60% of large American hospitals with its HealthKit program), Google is already working on several initiatives. These include his Google Fit health program, or his collaboration with Novartis for smart lenses.

This new smart health connected bracelet is only at the experimental stage, and it could take "several years" before it was born. Google is currently working with researchers to develop relevant measures (activity monitoring, heart rate, skin temperature, surrounding noise, etc.) that would allow doctors to draw conclusions about the physical condition of their patients. Currently, activity trackers (including Android Wear watches) do not have proven medical accuracy, so Google wants to focus on this. Case to follow.
