Grohe Sense – A smart health connected sensor against water leaks
With his experience in the field of sanitary equipment, Grohe decided to turn to the side of smart health connected objects. The brand sent me a Grohe Sense to Review it and present the product to you.
Grohe Sense: Product overview
To put it simply, the Grohe Sense is a Wi-Fi smart health connected water sensor whose mission is to constantly monitoring the humidity and temperatures of the room where it is installed. In addition to these two very common measures, the brand has added a much more interesting third. The Sense is capable of detecting water leaks or the risk of frost.
Its design, like its installation, is very simple and refined. This smart health smart health connected object takes the form of a small white pebble. On top, a bright circle lights up in blue when everything is fine and in red when a leak is detected.
Grohe Sense: installation, use and functionalities
The installation of the product could not be simpler. Just insert the batteries, access the app, add a slot, add your equipment, connect it to your WiFi and set the alert levels.
Once your installation is complete, choose where to position your Grohe sensor: next to the washing machine, in the bathroom, under the sink, in the basement, etc. Wireless, this product can really be installed from anywhere.
To sum up, the Sense detects and warns you immediately of any flooding. It measures temperature and humidity. The Ondus application will allow you to define thresholds and to be notified if these thresholds are exceeded. The AquaAlarm will allow you to receive alerts specific to each situation thanks to a flashing red light, an audible signal, a notification or an e-mail. Finally, the intelligent AquaIQ algorithm will ensure that all the alerts and actions are perfectly suited to the consumption of your household.
Grohe Sense: the Ondus app
The weak point of the device is its Ondus application. While the application is generally pleasant and user-friendly, several points still need to be improved.
The first: connection to the application. To be able to use the Grohe app, you must log in using your Google or Facebook account. The brand then authorizes itself to use some of your personal data. A few days after my first connection, I received an email from Grohe regarding updates while I never forwarded my email. It's also a shame to have to constantly reconnect to the app.
Another point of improvement: the translation of the application. Not everything has been translated, so the app sends you notifications in German.
Finally, it is quite tedious to delete each alert from the application. You can't delete them all at once.
Grohe Sense: opinion and conclusion
To conclude, Grohe Sense is a rather nice product, simple but without much pretension. Easy to use, it keeps its promises and does what it is supposed to do. In the same range, Grohe also offers the Sense + and the Sense Guard. The first is a wired version of the sensor that I tested. The second, probably the most interesting product in the range, is a device that detects both leaks and broken pipes. It also automatically stops the water supply and thus prevents damage to your health home.
