Here’s how to add developer features to the Oculus PC app. Read to the end for discover two very interesting options for the future of Quest 2.

Warning : This tutorial is to be used at your own risk, it is about advanced features. The most curious can Review it. But I urge you to disable the patch after watching it.

  • You must have theOculus PC app already installed, otherwise go to Oculus website and to have enabled developer mode on your Quest. To do this, you must be a registered “developer” on the Oculus website. This process is free, just go to the site dashboard.oculus.com on your PC. There you have to create and register your “organization”. Finally, you will be asked to accept the development contract.

  • Then, still from your PC, download the Skyline patch made by Basti564 on the github site.

  • Launch the .exe program, this will automatically open the Oculus PC App.

The first thing you will notice is the presence of 4 new tabs at the bottom right of the screen.

The first “i” opens the Chrome developer menu. Not much interest from the user side.

The second tab in the form of a toothed wheel displays on the left a new menu for developers to present the games on the Oculus store. I’ll give you a quick explanation.

  • Devices indicates the devices smart health connected to your PC, so your Quest 2 with some data.

  • Nux is used to choose the configuration (s) for which your app is made (we do not play with it).

  • Packages gives access to all the files installed on your Quest (games, apps, drivers) and those which are currently running.

  • Polaris offers the possibility of testing the visual functions of the interface and the display of a game or app page.

  • FBT, for me it could be an option meaning Full Body Tracking. Yes, you read that correctly, there could well be the possibility for the Quest 2 or at least the Rift or Quest version in Air Link / Link or VR, touse sensors for whole body tracking. The indication that the sensors are too far away is an additional clue.

  • Events, allows developers to view the creation of events.

The third is a shortcut to the Nux function (don’t play with it).

The last tab allows you to take a screenshot of the Oculus PC App.

Click on the cross at the top right to close this window, because there are other things to discover.

You discover the menu “DeveloperWhich tells you in which version your Quest is (yes, it’s V 29).

Then you have the menu “Debug“. At the top right you can select the version on which you want to launch Debug mode.

But I arrive at the most fun and the most interesting (I saved the best for last).

In the menu “Debug“, At the top right choose“Public Review ”, then right on the list “Review Store ID“, Type for example“ Stylist“.

Now in the left main menu click on “ Store“.

you will see games and applications that are not yet published and visible normally. So I could see

  • Dead Secret , a single-player investigation game in which you must find the murderer of Harris Bullard.

  • Minecraft , I will come back to it next week with the tutorial to play it now in VR.

  • Black eyed peas “Master of The Sun”

  • a Black Jack DLC.

  • An App with a robot?

  • And a priori a future new promotional offer reserved for new Oculus users.

So, you won’t be able to install them (even if they are free), but you will be the first to know the games and DLC that should be released soon in the Oculus store.

As it is Sunday, another little secret, the Oculus Quest menu may soon changeforadopt buttons that look like an Android smartphonein VR. What confirms me inthe arrival of Android apps on Quest.

  • Use drag & drop to put the patch file in the command line

  • and add at the end of the line ”–undo” (forget the space before the first dash).
