Hitachi has developed a device that can measure happiness
If you are happy and you breathe the joy of living? Don't bother proving it to those around you Hitachi takes care of it. The Japanese multinational has set up a portable wireless device that can measure whether a group of people is happy or not.
While the formula used to measure happiness remains a trade secret for the brand, Hitachi sayse that "the technological innovations on this product include a device equipped with an acceleration sensor accelerometer which monitors the behavior of a group, its movements and sends the data to the Cloud".
A state-of-the-art sensor
According to the boss of the multinational, the sensor collects data from the card fifty times per second and detects certain types of actions, movements such as walking, nodding or even hand gestures. He then uses the data he has collected to interpret the general mood of the group. The company wants to apply knowledge of the new technology in order to be used effectively in the workplace. For years, studies have shown that happy workers have the capacity to increase their productivity.
Be happy to work better?
It remains to be seen whether when employees are smart health connected to this device and constantly monitored by their bosses, this would not be a foolproof way to generate stress and panic to have to be necessarily happy in front of their boss.Hitachi believes that "the data collected on a real-time basis may allow companies to take more dynamic measures to improve the happiness of the group".
The product will be sold to businesses as a subscription service for an annual fee of $ 550 per card. Hitachi also said it plans to use the technology on its own employees.
