Hive Active Light – A cheap smart bulb

Hive Active Light is an inexpensive smart that we heard about a few months ago and which finally arrives on the market to compete directly with the famous Philips Hue bulbs.

Hive Active Light is a product of the British Gas company. The company is therefore adding a string to its bow by unveiling its intelligent lighting system. The ambition is simple: replace the existing bulbs, with screw or bayonet, by smart health connected bulbs controllable from a Hive application via your smartphone (iOS, Android, Windows), your tablet or your computer.

Once smart health connected, you will be able to turn the bulbs on and off, dim the light, and set time slots. If you do not already have a brand health home automation product like the Hive thermostat, you will need to buy an additional hub; it will cost you £ 80. It will be used to establish a link with your internet box and will control your bulbs. The Hive health home automation box can also control your heating or your smart health connected sensors.

If I tell you that this is a cheap smart bulb, it is that it only costs £ 19.99 per unit. The three pack costs £ 49.99 and a five pack costs around £ 79. In addition to that, people who are already customers of Hive benefit from a 10% reduction until July 31.

Obviously, for this price, these bulbs are a little more basic than Philips Hue bulbs. The Hive system is a little more basic, at least for the moment. If the Hue works with Pebble smartwatches and the Apple Watch, the price is still much higher. If you're interested in this product, you should be able to order it from the Amazon site. However, you will have to be a little patient since the products will be delivered within 3 or 4 weeks.
