HOW DO YOU KEEP YOUR SKIN BEAUTIFUL IN SUMMER?

[ad_1]

Do you also want radiant skin in the summer? That’s what we’re going for! By taking good care of our skin every day, we increase the resistance of the skin, resulting in a strong and firm skin. Our skin can use a boost especially in the summer months. Enjoying the sun responsibly is part of this, because although we travel less due to the Coronavirus, it has also been very warm in our little country in recent weeks. In addition to rubbing the skin well with a high factor sun protection product and avoiding the sun during the hottest part of the day (between 12:00 and 4:00 pm), summer is the right time to plan a visit to the skin therapist. We asked the skin experts at the Van Rosmalen Kliniek which treatments are ideal during the summer months and which we should avoid.

With or without treatment in the summer?

You do not have to postpone a treatment with the skin therapist until after the summer. Right now your skin needs extra attention. There are, however, a few things you should keep in mind. In principle, all treatments are suitable for the summer months, as long as the active substances such as glycol and salicylic acid are used in lower concentrations (mild summer peels). Which treatments do you use to maintain the condition of your skin in the summer? Skin therapy is tailor-made, so that the treatments are tailored to the needs of your skin. But in general we can say that mild peels and microneedling are suitable for almost all skin types to give the skin a big boost.

peels

It is better to postpone some peels for a while. For example, intensive chemical peels with high concentrations of active substances. It is better to do it in the autumn when winter is almost upon us again. And in the summer, opt for a mild peeling with antioxidants. The antioxidants provide good protection against solar radiation. With a mild peeling you make dead skin cells disappear like snow in the sun. The dull complexion disappears and your skin looks radiant and healthy again.

Microneedling

We use microneedling to make ultra-small holes in the skin. The healing process of these small wounds stimulates the production of new cells and therefore also the production of collagen. Dead skin cells are removed and your skin becomes firmer and gets a better structure. The skin therapist can add vitamin C to improve the condition of the skin, strengthen it and protect it against harmful external influences. A microneedling treatment can also be combined with a mild peeling.

Which treatments are better postponed until after the summer?

As mentioned, skin therapy is tailor-made and depends on a number of factors such as skin type and whether you are a sun avoider or a sun worshiper. A skin-improving treatment stimulates the production of new cells, resulting in fewer pigment spots, an even skin, and the fading of wrinkles. Treatments in the summer are only possible if your skin is not or hardly discolored by the sun.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels renew the top layer of skin and make your skin sensitive to sunlight. The new skin layer is not (yet) protected from the sun, which means that it can burn. Or pigment spots can develop in the new skin layer. Therefore, chemical treatments are not suitable for the summer. Chemical peels can certainly be performed. These are very mild superficial peels that also contain a lot of antioxidants. Treatment is also continued in countries where the sun always shines. Only very intensive peels are better carried out in the autumn, this also applies to laser treatments if someone tans quickly or is exposed to the sun a lot. If we don’t do peels, you will also brown more irregularly. The superficial peels also ensure that you get a nicer tan. Depending on the skin condition, indication and wish, a mild peeling can be a good treatment to ensure that the skin continues to shine in the summer. Moreover, you do not get a build-up of dead skin cells, which arise under the influence of (too much) sun radiation. This often makes you look grayer and you get a dull complexion.
