how health prepares its show in Las Vegas

[ad_1]

From January 7 to 10, 2020, Las Vegas will the place to be for start-ups, companies and investors around the world who want to revolutionize their sector. The world of health is no exception and, CES after CES, it is even becoming a staple of the digital high mass.

This 2020 edition does not contradict the enthusiasm of the sector for the event and the delegation of French start-ups led by Business France and French Tech will count 112 start-ups, including 35 young health shoots.

In total, France counted 420 start-ups, companies and industrialists in Las Vegas in 2019 and placed itself as the second most represented country, after the host country, the United States.

In 2019, health ranked as the first sector most represented among French Tech players.

Even if the French pavilion looks less crowded, the 2020 edition should not derogate from it: among the only start-ups led by Business France and French Tech, health remains the most represented sector. Follows the consumer tech or consumer technology, which has 34 start-ups.

In total, around fifty health start-ups should make the trip, around fifteen of them being taken by French regions and tricolor incubators, still present in the aisles of the CES.

We count in particular Moon and its diabetes remote monitoring solution, kwit and its application for smoking cessation, Hygia and its smart health connected medical chair or MyEndoApp for endometriosis screening.

Note also the presence of Withings, once again 100% French, which will take advantage of the CES 2020 vintage to present its latest health-focused innovations for professionals and patients.

AI and 5G at the heart of health topics

If there are still so many companies in the world of health wanting to conquer Las Vegas, it is also because CES is the show for all superlatives.

Born in 1967 in New York and imagined to be the showcase for the development of consumer electronics, the CES, which has now taken up residence in Las Vegas is THE place for announcements and preview of new hardware products or software.

It is also the meeting place between entrepreneurs and international investors and in 2019 it brought together more than 180,000 visitors and 4,500 exhibitors from 150 countries.

In light of the 2020 program, artificial intelligence (AI) in health and 5G will be the flagship themes of CES.

Political question, key vector for improvement of the health system, facilitator of care paths, development axis of the drug or medical devices (MD), the subject of the data is at the heart of health issues and the Grail to dominate the AI.

5G is already being rolled out, and if it makes it possible to exchange larger volumes of information more quickly, it is also a response to medical deserts and the demand for instantaneous treatment.

Virtual hospitals, distance care, self-monitoring, machine learning, 5G is approached under different questions that all redefine the doctor-patient relationship and health systems, wherever it will be deployed.

With several dedicated conferences, these two themes will be at the heart of the Digital Health Summit.

The Digital Health Summit, a living room in the living room

Become the essential meeting in health of the CES, the Digital Health Summit will hold its fair for the 11th consecutive year on January 7 and 8.

Each year, the event brings together companies and healthcare professionals in an exhibition space and a series of conferences and debates.

Several representatives of health industries and tech companies will be invited to discuss the evolutions of the regulation of e-health, the contributions of AI in health and its ethics, the 5G revolution and objects smart health connected to health, big data.

Dr. Amy Abernethy, Deputy Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and oncologist, will try to "demystify" the regulatory function that she occupies and will return to the latest workings of the administration.

Lisa Earnhardt, Executive Vice-President of the Division Medical Devices Abbott will be invited to discuss the convergence of health care and technology, and the implications for the diagnosis and management of chronic disease.

Besides Abbott, several other industrialists will have the opportunity to present their vision for the digital transformation of health.

Among them, Johnson & Johnson (J&J), Lilly, Philips, Omron Healthcare and even Facebook which no longer hides its ambition to weigh on the health market, like other Gafam.

Also note the special focus of Digital Health Summit on the technologies of sleep tech (sleep technologies) that have exploded in the past two years and will be honored again in 2020.

This real show in the show registered a growth of 10% in 2019 (in terms of exhibitors and visitors), said its organizers on their site.

More discreet industrialists

If the success of CES is no longer to be proven, the absence of some industrialists yet accustomed to the American high mass is notable.

The La Poste group, which has traveled every year, will not go to Las Vegas for this 2020 edition. In 2019, the group supported 15 start-ups, including 6 from the health sector, to enable them to present their technological innovations and establish contacts with potential future partners.

This year, the French group prefers "to focus on the French digital fair, VivaTech", explained to TICpharma Régis Sénégou, e-health director of Docaposte, a subsidiary of the group.

If Dassault Systèmes will still put its luggage in Las Vegas for this 2020 edition of CES, the group will leave with a lighter fleet.

"At CES, we meet our customers in high-tech but it is also a very general public event. CES has become a huge fair and it's good for making a media plan but our start-ups are more interested in trade fairs ", explained Frédéric Vacher, group innovation director.

Note also the presence of a French-speaking village gathering all the tricolor ecosystem in Las Vegas. A "SmartHealth" delegation will represent French companies in the health sector and will organize thematic visits during the show. It is chaired by Nicolas Paris, CEO of Gilson, and coordinated by Tristan Piron, deputy director of information systems for the regional hospital group (GHT) in Vendée.

Finally, on the institutional side, if the ministerial agendas are not yet known, the Secretary of State to the Minister of Economy and Finance, Agnès Pannier-Runacher, should make the trip to Las Vegas, said a source. from Bercy's offices to TICpharma.

Cédric O, secretary of state responsible for digital technology, should not go there, we also learned. Recall that CES 2019 was held without a government representative.
