How Does A Connected Smart Health Wristband Work?
Connected objects are becoming more and more used. There are all types with their respective functions. One of these objects is the connected smart health wristband. The latter is very convenient for people wishing to take care of them. Indeed, it plays the role of a sports coach by counting the number of steps they have made, for example. But how smart health wristband work ?How can this little bracelet do that? How does they proceed?
How smart health wristband work
An integrated accelerometerThe first question we ask ourselves when we are in front of this bracelet is how does it work to count the steps? The answer is simple. It is actually equipped with a sensor and it is an accelerometer. The latter reacts to movements applied to it. As soon as its user moves, the bracelet picks up directly and the accelerometer activates. From this moment, the latter begins counting the steps of the wearer of the bracelet.
However, not all the gestures that the bracelet undergoes are interpreted as steps. There is nothing to fear, this gadget is very accurate and only counts “real not”. Specific algorithms have been designed to accurately detect real movements and spurious movements.
The accelerometer is not the only sensor whose connected bracelet is equipped. Some models have a heart rate monitor. This sensor allows the user to know, within one or two beats, his heart rate. The place of this heart rate monitor is on the back of the connected wristband. From there, it is in direct contact with the wrist skin of the wearer. At any time and anywhere, he constantly takes the pulse of the latter.
In addition to these two sensors, some models have a gyroscope or altimeter. These sensors are made to have even more precision. But also, to meet specific needs.
Connected to a smartphoneFor the proper functioning bracelet connected it is necessary, or even essential, to connect the bracelet to a smartphone. But by what alternative? The Bluetooth wireless connection provides this role. The version built into this bracelet is Bluetooth 4.0. Its asset is that it does not consume a lot of energy (or low energy). Thus, it does not significantly affect the autonomy of the two devices, on one condition. The latter is as follows: the Bluetooth version of the smartphone must also be a 4.0. It is then thanks to this connection that the data recorded by the bracelet are transmitted to the smartphone.
Even with a Bluetooth connection, viewing the data is only possible in the presence of an application designed for this purpose. This application can be downloaded for free and to install on the smartphone in question. The bracelet works in pairs with this application. The utility of this one is that it is the interface which will allow the user to consult his performances, results and statistics. To access the settings of the bracelet or simply set goals, it is necessary. It should be noted that existing models offer applications that are compatible with either the iOS system or the Android system. Other systems like Windows phone or Blackberry OS have to wait to have applications that are compatible with them.
Nevertheless, it is possible to connect this bracelet to a computer. If it incorporates a Bluetooth, so much the better, otherwise the USB port of it will be required. And as with the smartphone, the recorded data of the smart health wristband can be synchronized directly on the computer.
Consultation on the webThe results are also available on the web and not just on a smartphone or computer. There is a dedicated website for statistics and other data. This web interface will serve as a dashboard.
