how to configure the concentration assistant?

The Windows 10 concentration wizard makes it possible not to be disturbed during the time spent in front of your PC. ABSMARTHEALTH shows you how to activate it and shows you the settings that can be made.

Appeared in Windows 10, the assistant of concentration is a simple, but practical function. Indeed, it avoids being parasitized by the various stresses coming from your PC while you are engaged in a particular activity (work, video game, watching a film, etc.). In this way, it increases your level of productivity by reducing disturbances and allows you to go about your business in peace.

Microsoft has however provided the possibility of personalizing it by allowing certain exceptions in the form of active time slots, contacts andapplications priority, etc.

ABSMARTHEALTH explains how to activate the concentration assistant and presents the main settings to be made.

How to activate the Windows 10 concentration wizard?

First, click on the “Start” button on the far left of the taskbar (or press the “Windows” key on your keyboard), then click onicon parameters in the form of a toothed wheel.

Then go to Windows 10 system settings.

On the left side of the window, now click on “Concentration Assistant” to access the part that interests us.

By default, the wizard is disabled. First, define the level of concentration that suits you. Indeed, you have two possibilities:

  • Make all notifications except alarms invisible

  • Hide all notifications, except those added to the priority list.

If you choose to hide everything except the alarms, skip to the next section. If you choose to display priority notifications, click on “Personalize your priority list” to define what will be considered important.

The priority list first allows you to receive certain notifications from your smartphone, if it is associated with your PC. In this case, you can decide to receive notifications of incoming calls, incoming text or scheduled reminders on your smartphone.

You can also decide to specify contacts for certain applications (Mail, Skype, Calls, Messages, etc.) whose notifications will not be filtered. To do this, first click on “Add contacts”.

A window is displayed, click on the name of the priority contacts, then validate by pressing the button in the lower right corner of the window.

As with contacts, it is possible to define applications that are not subject to the display restrictions of the assistant. To do this, click on “Add an application”.

A window with the list of applications appears, click on the one to include in the exceptions. Repeat for each priority application.

How to configure the automatic rules of the concentration assistant?

Returning to the settings page of the concentration assistant, you have the possibility of defining automatic rules to activate the assistant in particular situations:

  • Only during certain time slots

  • When the screen is duplicated

  • When you play a game

  • When you use an application in full screen mode (to watch a movie for example).

Click on the corresponding slider to activate or deactivate an automatic rule. To configure a rule, click directly on it.

By clicking on an automatic rule, you must define the desired concentration level, namely whether you want to display only the alarms or only the priority items.

Regarding the activation of the concentration assistant during certain time slots, it is hardly more complicated. First click on “During these periods”, then move the cursor to activate the rule.

New settings are appearing, first click on the start and end times to modify them.

Then click on the “Repeat” drop-down menu to modify the frequency activation of the assistant (every day, weekends or working days).

Finally, as with all automatic rules, determine the desired level of concentration (alarms only or priorities only).
