Huawei Eyewear are smart glasses designed by listeners
Huawei enters the smart glasses market with Eyewear. The Chinese brand has indeed unveiled the new specifications of its smart health connected glasses designed for men and women.
Announced alongside its new smart watches, Watch GT Elegant and Active Edition, Eyewear glasses have been designed in collaboration with the Korean sunglasses brand Gentle Monster.
The key feature of Eyewear smart health connected glasses is to use the two built-in microphones and speakers to take calls, access smart assistants and listen to your music. There is no holographic display or camera here. Huawei's smart glasses are therefore closer to Bose's smart glasses; as opposed to Focals smart glasses or North's Snap Specs.
There are no buttons on the wearable. So users only have to press the sides of the frames to wake the device up Huawei also explains that its dual microphones included with beamforming technologies will apparently reduce noise when you make a phone call. Finally, there are also two speakers that are positioned to reduce sound leakage. On paper, all this therefore seems quite promising.
But what about the battery? What we do know is that the glasses are charged via a case using NFC contactless charging; which Huawei says is a world first.
That's pretty much all we have on the new Huawei project. I was able to try on a pair of Huawei glasses. But for the moment, these are only prototypes and not the fully functional model that will be marketed. As for the price, no information has yet filtered; but Huawei announced its intention to market its Eyewear in July 2019.
