Hue Play HDMI Sync Box: Philips launches box to synchronize lights with TV

Philips has just announced the launch of the Hue Play HDMI Sync box, a box that connects to your TV via HDMI and synchronizes all of your Hue lights for a more immersive experience. The box gives access to the functionality of the Ambilight series televisions on third-party brand TVs.

Want to synchronize the color and intensity of your lights with what your television displays? Philips has been offering technology on some TVs for years Ambilight which allows you to do just that. The dominant colors of the contours of the image are then reproduced on a row of LEDs, which gives the impression that the TV is a clear oasis on a blurred background. And participate in a more immersive experience.

The Hue family is enriched with a new box that synchronizes the lights with the TV

But for owners of Hue bulbs without an Ambilight television, it was previously impossible to synchronize their bulbs with the television display. This is why Philips is launching Play HDMI Sync Box, a box with four HDMI inputs and WiFi connectivity to accomplish this task. Concretely, you connect one of the outputs of your Blu-ray player, console and internet box, for example.

The box is then configured via the Philips Hue app – you can then choose the behavior of your lamps according to their location in the room. So when you read content on your TV, all of your lights will brighten up what's happening on the edges of the screen. In addition, it supports HDMI 2.0b signals with HDCP 2.2 and definition up to 4K at 60 frames per second with HDR10.

The Play HDMI Sync Boxwill be available from October 15 in some European countries, for a price of € 249.95. What do you think of this device? Talk about it in the comments.
