HUSH or smart health connected earplugs

[ad_1]

Three students from the famous University of San Diego (CA) present Hush, the very first project of smart health connected earplugs. Very promising and innovative, what does it offer us?

An innovative product

features

Hush smart health connected earplugs are a kind of headphone ITE wireless. They allow "eliminate ambient noise (<70 dB) while allowing the user to relax while listening to music "

But the functionality of this pair of wearables does not stop there: indeed, thanks to a application dedicated companion (iOS / Android), it is possible to set a “ alarm clock »Which will consist simply in deactivating the Hush and therefore immerse you in the ambient noise at the desired time. You can also choose a music yourself alarm in the dedicated sound library (non-modifiable, 10 titles available) and so be sure not to disturb anyone on a Monday morning at 6 a.m. It is also possible to screen calls to pass only emergencies, and to choose which notifications will not be muted.

It should be noted that the Hush are localizable through the associated app; it is even possible to do them ring from a distance in order to find them.

" binaural beats Are also available, kinds of dry sounds repeated at different rates, they keep you in an alert or asleep state depending on the chosen frequency.

Hush intelligently combines two unreliable techniques independently: earplugs (unable to mask excessive noise) and sound diffusion (ineffective if low and too dangerous otherwise).

The Hush thus seem ideal for a relaxing plane trip, a too noisy roommate or a spouse who snores a little too much.

Design

The creators of Hush claim to have passed a series of quality tests on most headphones on the market in order to provide even better comfort. Here is the final prototype:

Hush - Pair

We thus find ITE with a tip in foam forming an angle with a curved structure in silicone.

Autonomy

The autonomy announced is 10 hours consecutive. This result could be obtained thanks to a sound library stored locally (we can therefore understand why it is not possible to modify it) and by using the BlueTooth Low Energy.

The storage box acts as a external battery, in fact, it contains the material necessary for recharging. A USB cable is included if necessary (you can recharge another device such as your smartphone) but the box allows you to recharge the Hush more than 10 times by storing them inside.

A successful crowdfunding campaign

The campaign is launched on KickStarter with a goal of $ 100,000. Achieved in less than 2 weeks. The project was so successful that 3 new features will be announced later: first, for the $ 175,000 collected, 3 new sounds (chosen by the backers) are offered in the music library. Then (for the $ 300,000), an additional compartment is added to the storage box to accommodate the various silicone adapters. Finally, the creators will present an additional option allowing them to obtain a pair of specially shaped silicone adapters, thus celebrating the $ 500,000 reached!

In short :

  • $ 593,255 collected

  • 4,415 backers

  • A sound library enriched with 3 music

  • An enlarged storage box

  • New silicone adapters

The introductory ehealth will tell you more about the project:

A sure future

The Hush perfectly fit into the world of smart health connected objects which continued to grow in 2014. Their marketing in 2015 should be a real success for Daniel Synn, Daniel 'Chesong' Lee and Daniel 'Ewok' Lee, the 3 young students from San Diego.

We may regret this too little resemblance with wireless headphones; we imagine that future versions will allow us to listen to music stored on our smartphone.
