Irritation with the new Fitbit Charge?

[ad_1]

At the start of the year, Fitbit was forced to remove its smart health connected bracelet named Force due to numerous allergies noted by its customers. A few weeks ago, the world number 1 Quantified Self released a version almost identical to the old bracelet that it renamed Fitbit Charge, taking care to use more noble materials. Sadly, some users are already complaining of itching on the bracelet again.

James Park requires minimal hygiene for its customers

In response to these accusations, it was directly the CEO of Fitbit James Park who spoke to the American magazine Engadget to explain the potential appearance of irritation. This is particularly reminiscent of the intervention of the CEO of Withings who also had to justify himself yesterday of the quality of his latest product, the Aura.

James Park claims that it is not the quality of the materials used in the Fitbit Charge that must be questioned, but rather the hygiene of the wearers from its activity sensor. To support his thesis, he explains that certain pieces of jewelry also cause skin reactions in certain people. To avoid this kind of inconvenience, James Park advises its users to take care that the Charge is dry and clean when the user is carrying it. He also recommends not tightening it too much.

The company assured that it is only a few rare users who have complained about such a reaction (we remember the Bendgate for the iPhone 6 …), but that it continues to investigate these specific cases. Obviously, after the first disappointment last February, we can imagine that Fitbit sought the approval of many dermatologists before releasing the new version of its smart health bracelet. You can find our full presentation on the Fitbit Charge here.

"We have conducted extensive testing with laboratories and consulted with top dermatologists to develop stringent standards so that users can safely wear and enjoy Charge, and we have worked to ensure that Charge meets those stringent standards. "

– James Park, CEO of Fitbit
