How this 201-year-old housewares manufacturer benefit your spirit -Jacob Bromwell reviews

Today many people don’t have the time to duck into a bar for a quick one, so they are bringing their liquor with them. At least that’s what Sean Bandawat, president and owner of  Jacob Bromwell , a 201-year-old housewares manufacturer, has discovered. The company’s hammered-copper Roosevelt flask ($750) has a kidney-shaped design that is slim and compact at 3 inches wide and 5 inches tall. It holds 5 ounces, or one-fifth of a standard bottle of your favorite spirit.

What is Jacob Bromwell ?

Jacob Bromwell®, founded in 1819, is the oldest kitchenware and housewares manufacturer in North America, as well as the oldest known manufacturer of copper, stainless steel, and tin products in the United States. They manufacture a variety of high-end quality products such as baking pans and sheets, popcorn poppers, flour sifters (on which they hold the patent for all subsequent flour sifters), graters, and chestnut roasters. All of their products are of exceptional quality and are intended to last for multiple generations ( as in leave it in your will and pass it down).Everything also comes with a lifetime guarantee. Their products, which are entirely made in the United States and do not require batteries or electricity to function, set a high standard that is difficult to match.

They also make a variety of drinkware, such as tin cups, solid copper shot glasses, funnels, and coasters, but we’re going to focus on one of their Prestige Copper flasks in this review.

The Prestige Copper, Hammered Copper, and Special Edition Luxury Copper Flasks are available in three different flavors or types.

Who owns Jacob Bromwell?

It has been owned by the McClorey family since 2005. The company’s housewares division (this company) is purchased by the large conglomerate company Leigh Products, Inc. Leigh Products renames their division Bromwell Housewares and relocates manufacturing to a four-story building at 601 N.

Jacob Bromwell Flask reviews

Model One Flask

Appearance

Heavy solid copper construction with hot tinned lining (almost a lost art) and weighing a reassuring nearly 20 ounces where most similar capacity flasks weigh a fraction of that at 4 ounces. The devil is in the details here, and a good quality, natural cork is required ( not cheap and easy to flavor plastic). There is an optional chain and cork keeper that attaches to the copper cleat on the flask’s shoulder. Oval shape with no sharp corners to catch or tear and a satisfying feel and heft in the hand. Unlike most flasks these days, the metal on this one cannot be easily flexed.

Depending on the caliber, range, and other conditions, it may or may not stop a bullet, but it may certainly slow one down. The body is one sheet of copper (sorry, can’t mic it – contact them for specific specs) with a seam running up the center back and solid pieces of hot tinned copper stamped to the body at the top and bottom. Authentic Jacob Bromwell (signature) Since 1819′′ is stamped on the bottom plate. It has a pleasant tactile feel to it, and it is pleasant to hold. There’ll be no excuse for dropping or misplacing this flask!

Impression

Superbly constructed, with meticulous attention to detail, fit, and finish. All of the details have been meticulously considered, and there appears to be no scrimping on materials. The neck is a little longer and sturdier than most flasks nowadays, resulting in a significantly more robust seal. The fit and finish are likewise excellent, and the copper thickness is adequate. The design is well-executed and consistent throughout the item. The flask as a whole is significantly superior to any modern flask we’ve seen.

Testing

The capacity is 9 fluid ounces, which is plenty for a round for you and four friends. The hot tin liner prevents residue, metal transfer, and otherwise flavoring of your contents (but don’t put anything very acidic or carbonated in ANY flask).

Other

Inside a corrugated and stapled cardboard box, comes wrapped in a heavy cellophane wrapper inside a well constructed velveteen black drawstring pouch with silkscreened “Authentic Jacob Bromwell (signature) Since 1819” on pouch. For an extra price, you can choose a well-made presentation box with a sliding cover, which is a pleasant touch for both gifting and long-term storage of your flask.

Appearance

Jacob Bromwell Main Catalog Skull Couture

Heavy solid copper construction with hot tinned lining (almost a forgotten art) and a comforting approximately 24 ounces of capacity, yet most equivalent capacity flasks weigh a fraction of that at 4 ounces. The devil is in the details here; compared to other flask caps, the solid copper cap feels nearly like a lug nut, is weighty, machined, and about twice the length with heavy-duty screw threading. On the side of a mirror-polished cap, a band of diamond style checkering or knurling in the middle of the cap gives a good non-slip surface. A natural cork gasket (not cheap and easily to flavor plastic) is used on the inside of the cap.

A nice feel and heaviness to the hand, with no sharp corners to snag or tear. Unlike most flasks these days, the metal on this one is not easily flexed.

“Authentic Jacob Bromwell (in script/signature) Since 1819” is stamped on the bottom plate. The skull design/artwork, which is entirely hand-hammered (rather than machine-stamped), is stylised (rather than anatomical) and has a good depth and detailing that gives it a nice tactile feel and makes it feel nice in your hand. You won’t have much of an excuse to drop or misplace this flask!

Impression

Exceptionally well-made, with meticulous attention to detail, fit, and finish. All of the details have been meticulously considered, and there appears to be no scrimping on materials. The neck is a little longer, sturdier, and has heavier threading than most flasks nowadays, resulting in a significantly more robust seal. The fit and finish are also excellent, and the copper thickness is excellent. The design is well-executed and consistent throughout the piece of artwork. The flask as a whole is significantly superior to any modern flask we’ve seen.

Appearance

Jacob Bromwell STANDARD FUNNEL

Heavy solid copper construction and a reassuring weight of approximately 4 ounces, compared to 4 ounces for most flasks! That should give you a sense of the amount of metal involved. There’s also a more expensive, heavier variant. Traditional soldering rather than welding for authenticity is the devil in the details here. Unlike most metal funnels these days, the metal on this one is not easily flexed. Body is one sheet of copper) – the tubular part of the funnel is a single piece of drawn copper soldered to the bottom of the cone with the seam going up the center. It has a lovely tactile feel to it and feels good in your hand. You won’t have much of an excuse to drop or misplace this flask!

Impression

Exceptionally well-made, with meticulous attention to detail, fit, and finish. All of the details have been meticulously considered, and there appears to be no scrimping on materials. To make it more sturdy when placed into a flask, the neck/tube is a little longer and sturdier. The fit and finish are likewise excellent, and the copper thickness is adequate. The design is well-executed and consistent throughout the item. The flask as a whole is significantly superior to any modern flask we’ve seen.

Testing

Metal transfer will not flavor your contents if you use solid copper. The funnel’s top and neck/tube parts are both wide enough for a comfortable fit, and the neck’s somewhat longer length makes for a more stable funnel fit and a little extra warning that the flask is nearly full as the funnel’s neck begins to fill.

Other

Inside a corrugated and stapled cardboard box, comes wrapped in a hefty cellophane bag inside a rustic looking woven fiber and drawstring pouch with silkscreenedCC13 on pouch. For an extra price, you can choose a well-made presentation box with a sliding cover, which is a pleasant touch for both gifting and long-term storage of your flask and funnel.

The Ne Plus Ultra is the greatest handcrafted funnel on the market ( there is no better). Yes, you can spend more money on silver, gold, or carbon fiber, but this funnel outperforms them all in terms of overall quality and durability.

Conclusion

I was quite satisfied with Jacob Bromwell and the attention that they took with their items. The service I received was excellent, which is something you rarely encounter in today’s fast-paced society. The cost of the flask is justified by the effort and skill involved. Knowing you own something really one-of-a-kind, as well as the care and effort that went into its creation, makes all the difference.

A Brief History of the Flask and Its Cultural Significance

The Meaning of a Flask

A flask is a bottle that you can put alcohol in. The word originally meant a metal container for gunpowder, but it became used for other containers too.

The word “flask” comes from the Old French flasque , which meant “leather pouch”. That word came from the Latin flasco , meaning “to make flexible”, or “to bend.” The Latin word itself came from the Greek fleax , which also meant “flexible” or “pliable”.

The main sense of the Latin flasco was not related to pouches, but was closer to what we now think of as flexible, like the limbs of animals. So the first thing you might put in a flask was your arm. The OED suggests this may be where the idea of bending something around to make it fit came from; but I wonder if instead it means that once upon a time people wore their arms around their waists like belts, maybe because they had no pockets.

The idea of putting things in bottles goes back thousands of years. There are even some Mesopotamian clay tablets with pictures on them that look like small bottles. Glass bottles to carry water or wine were invented sometime before the 1st century AD.

The Rise in Popularity of Flasks in Popular Culture & Pop Culture

The rise of flasks in popular culture and pop culture is largely due to the fact that they are usually associated with young, rebellious people. The more rebellious the person, the more likely they are to drink alcohol, and this has led to a rise in the use of flasks among these groups. The more this trend continues towards younger generations, the more popular flasks will become.

Flasks are known for their use among young people; however, there is also a market for older people who are looking for flask accessories. This is due to the fact that older people tend to be more health conscious than younger generations, so they choose to carry around water rather than alcohol. This rise in popularity of flasks has caused many companies to include flasks as part of their promotional merchandise, which has also helped to fuel the popularity of flasks. A perfect example of this would be the growth in popularity of leatherman multi tools, which have now become a staple promotional product for many companies due to their usefulness both on and off the job.

What is the reason behind their increasing popularity?

The main reasons are that flasks are economical, fashionable and environmentally friendly. The fact that it is made of metal makes these flasks durable. It also gives them the benefit of being light in weight, making them ideal to carry around with you wherever you go. The another reason why they are popular is because they are very fashionable. Flasks are available in different designs and colors. One can choose from many designs to find something that suits their personality or style. When choosing the design of the flask, you do not have to worry about breaking the bank since they are not expensive at all. Because these flasks are made of metal they do not harm the environment in any way. Since metal is reusable it does not have any negative effects on the environment.
