Jawbone finally explains the UP3 deadline

[ad_1]

The least we can say is that the release of UP3 is a nightmare for Jawbone. The bracelet advertised as revolutionary was months behind schedule before it hit the market, and water resistance was the real problem.

Interviewed by our colleagues from Wareable, UP3 product manager Jason Donahue began by explaining that the company absolutely wanted the new smart health connected bracelet to be waterproof. He even teaches us that the code name of the internal project was Thorpe, with reference to the Australian swimmer.

But the company had real problems during production. The machines used by the brand to produce the UP3 were simply not adapted to make the bracelet fully waterproof. They therefore had to choose between a waterproof, but thicker bracelet, or keep the advertised design, but not waterproof.

"At the end of the day, making sure that our product was wearable and small, and beautiful is much more important to us."

In this interview, Donahue also explained why Jawbone decided to do without MotionX technology, used in all of its previous models. According to him, the company today has enough internal expertise on algorithms to manage everything. Especially since this choice allows them greater latitude in the possibilities of new features.

The UP3 is still not available in France, and we have no date communicated by the company. One thing is certain, once it will be possible to order it from Europe, we will Review its functionality from A to Z to finally give us our opinion on this smart health connected bracelet if expected …
