Jawbone is not a hardware company, according to its CEO

[ad_1]

Jawbone CEO Hosain Rahman gave an interview to Recode during the Mobile Code Conference. He explained the strategy of the brand, which gradually abandons hardware to focus on the software part.

"We do not consider ourselves anymore as a company specializing in hardware (…) We have today more software engineers and data scientists … I think that the hardware is for us today a way to demonstrate to people what 'it is possible to achieve with technology'. To support his point, he cited the example of the first product of the brand, which incorporated a noise reduction algorithm, in which the hardware was just there to support the technology.

This is not a big surprise when we know that Jawbone abandoned Motion X for its sensors and then signed a partnership with Huawei to integrate the UP system in its Watch. As we saw in our UP3 Review, the UP application and its integrated coach are improving day by day and the data collected is always excellent.

Rahman also stated that his company planned to launch a version of the UP application for the Apple Watch, and that the release of the watch had in no way penalized the sales of Jawbone activity sensors.
