Labo – Is the pressure of Lavazza A Modo Mio Desea allowing her to make a real espresso?

On one side, the Lavazza A Modo Mio Deséa coffee maker has 10 bars of pressure. On the other, Nespresso boasts the merits of the 19 bars of pressure spread on these coffee makers. But in cup, what's the difference?
Question: What is the minimum pressure to get an espresso with a capsule machine? Well, the opinions diverge. For some baristas, just 9 bars. For others, the ideal pressure is 15 bars to enjoy an espresso worthy of the name.
According to its technical data, the Lavazza A Modo Mio Deséa coffee maker has a pressure of 10 bar. Does this "weak" pressure allow her to prepare an espresso? Above all, what is an espresso prepared by this coffee machine compared to that of a Nespresso and its 19 bars of pressure? In order to answer this question, we chose to compare it with the Krups Nespresso Vertuo.
Blind tasting
It is technically impossible for us to measure the pressure produced by a capsule coffee machine. So we opted for a blind tasting to compare the taste of the espresso delivered by the two machines. Of course, the capsules used are of the same intensity for both devices. If our many one-day testers (who are none other than editorial staff, coffee lovers) do not see any differences between the two preparations, we can say that an espresso at 10 bars is worth an espresso at 19 bars.
After many tastings, the result is almost unanimous. The texture of the preparation of Lavazza A Modo Mio Deséa is actually closer to that of an espresso. The taste is, according to our guinea pigs, strong and acid. As the picture shows, the Lavazza creates less crema (foam) than the Krups, but the latter has been specially designed for this purpose.
The proof is that the Lavazza A Modo Mio Desea is able to prepare an espresso, even if this capsule coffee machine is limited to 10 bars of pressure.
What to deduce?
Pressure bidding to prove the effectiveness of a coffee capsule seems so a little useless since a pressure of 10 bar is sufficient to make an espresso. We do not have the float effect we could have expected.
The complete Review of the Lavazza A Modo Mio Desea is to be found next Sunday.
