Labo – The check valve of the Cecotec Rockstar vacuum cleaner

[ad_1]

Despite all our precautions, it happens sometimes that some devices that we Review manage to hide their defects. This is the case of the Cecotec Conga Rockstar 500 vacuum cleaner. Explanations …

When we use devices to evaluate performance, we push them to their limits. For example, we study in detail the autonomy of broom vacuums (suction duration and loading time), then pass on multiple surfaces including a long pile carpet that most do not like. We also make them swallow powdered cocoa to check that the dust is redirected to the collector instead of being thrown back into the room. This comprehensive Review battery covers a wide range of situations and features, but does not prevent you from sometimes missing a problem.

The Cecotec Conga Rockstar 500 vacuum cleaner, for example, was recently awarded the rating of 3 stars despite a somewhat weak autonomy to our taste and a tank difficult to empty cleanly. On the other hand, it has been performing well on hard floors and fine carpets. We also could verify that he had an effective filtration and his many accessories played in his favor. Unfortunately, a major design flaw has escaped us.

It was using the Cecotec Conga Rockstar to clean the lab after a vacuum Review (robot this time) that Marie, our beloved colleague, had the unpleasant surprise to see all the rice she had sucked spread on the floor . Sometimes it happens on some devices that a bit of waste returns to the ground because it was stuck in the brush or the suction was not strong enough to harvest the heavier items. But in our case, almost all the rice was rejected. Mystery!

Anatomy of a broom vacuum cleaner

We turned the vacuum in all directions, hearing the rice rattling in the suction tube, proving that there was a problem. But it is by removing the latter that the culprit appeared to us: the neck anti-return stuck. Normally, the entrance to the hopper (just after the suction tube) accommodates a moving part, often made of soft rubber, which prevents the materials contained in the collector from going back into the tube and thus being ejected out .

However, on the Cecotec, this piece of hard plastic hangs very easily in the open position. As a result, no bulwark prevents the detritus from coming out again. This phenomenon is reinforced by the particular architecture of broom vacuum cleaners, whose hopper is often found in a horizontal position, so the entrance is oriented downwards.

When dust flies, stars fall

Of course, this detail (which is not really a) completely ruins the interest of Cecotec Conga Rockstar 500. There is no point vacuuming to see the trash fall to the ground in the second. So we lowered the rating of this product to 2 stars only. Nevertheless, all is not lost for him since it happens that a device is defective. That's why we're going to ask the manufacturer for another Review copy and check if the check valve shows the same design flaw. If it is not the case, its rating will go back to 3 stars.
