LeECo continues to invest in the Smart Bike market

[ad_1]

We had already known this for several months. LeEco, the Chinese company wants to land in force on the smart objects market. After presenting several smartphones and televisions last October, the company is now accelerating on the market for smart health connected bikes. She took advantage of CES 2020 in Las Vegas to present two Smart Bikes. The Smart Bike Road for your urban journeys and the Smart Bike Mountain for your off-road escapades. Plugged into Android, they give us a glimpse of what the Super Bike, the brand's flagship product that should soon hit the market, could offer.

Smart bikes for all occasions

Are cyclists still going to need a smart health connected watch? In view of the options that LeEco offers with these two new bikes, one might doubt it. The 4-inch touchscreen in the center of the handlebars is powered by a SnapDragon 410 chip and a 6000 mAh battery. LeEco has developed a simplified OS called Bike O.S 2.0 from Android 6.0 to make it work. If it turns out to be a little slow in use at the moment, the fact that the two bikes are still in the prototype stage gives cause for optimism.

The screen displays on one side the information relating to the routes taken (route, speed, distance traveled, etc.), the playlists on your smartphone that you can synchronize with the bike and then broadcast via a loudspeaker, and the data of a heart sensor. Bikes are also packed with sensors: accelerometer, barometer, compass and light sensor. Also useful if you don't know where you are, the tablet has GPS and Here Maps.

In terms of design, the two bikes have a Toray T700 carbon fiber frame and handlebars. Enough to guarantee a certain lightness (8.4 kg for the Road Bike and 12.2 kg for the Mountain Bike). Both offer 11 speeds, one with an urban configuration, the other for off-roading. VShe options clearly show the path LeEco wants to take. While its Super Bike is intended to be versatile, the brand is already preparing more specific versions for demanding users.

A vital space for security

A bike with lasers? Rest assured, they do not present any danger to other road users. They are used to indicate to them your “living space”. Embedded on the handles, they mark a three-meter safety zone around you. A measure to tell cars and other two-wheelers not to get too close to you so as not to endanger yourself.

The prices of Smart Road Bike and Smart Road Mountain are still unknown, but the brand has indicated that bikes are expected to hit the market in the second quarter of 2020. The Super Bike is already on sale in China and should arrive in the United States in the coming weeks. No date has yet been communicated for Europe.
