LG Innofest: this is what a smart health connected health home with AI ThinQ looks like

LG was showing in situ in a villa on the outskirts of Madrid its latest innovations in smart health connected devices for the health home. A way to assert its ThinQ AI ecosystem, but also to give an overview of what a smart health home can really bring, at least with the brand's devices.

A villa in the suburbs of Madrid (Spain) was the setting chosen by LG this year to organize its Innofest 2019. The opportunity for the manufacturer to show its entire range of health home appliances in situation – in other words in what smart health connected LG devices can bring your health home into a futuristic era, ultimately not so inaccessible. We were particularly interested in the brand's SmartThinQ smart health connected devices.

The harmony of a LG SmartThinQ smart health connected health home

Several innovations therefore particularly caught our attention. In the center of this smart health connected health home, there is an LG WK7 speaker, and / or one of the last TVs of the brand equipped with the LG AI ThinQ assistant and Google Assistant. Two perfectly integrated voice assistant ecosystems – integration with Amazon Alexa is also coming soon – and that AI ThinQ artificial intelligence on LG products will use depending on the case, when one can provide a more relevant answer , or control a particular device. The passage between these assistants is transparent to the user.

So LG’s assistant replaces where Google Assistant or Alexa struggle to find a satisfactory answer, and vice versa. In its smart health connected house, fitted out in thematic rooms, LG offered a first demonstration with one of its latest OLED televisions: we discover that we can give it very detailed orders to take into account the context, such as for example "Give me the list of channels watched" or "Who is (name of actor)" followed by – without further instruction – "Give me his filmography". The wizard then runs as expected, without error, from data from several databases, and taking into account the context. The demonstration continues by asking the assistant to change the room temperature – the brand's smart health connected air conditioner switches on immediately and is precisely adjusted for this room. The presenter then asks an air purifier to get started, which runs.

The LG smart health connected kitchen: a source of inspiration

Then the demonstration moves into the kitchen. We then discover an amazing product: a smart health connected beer machine. This is not just about serving beers to your friends, but brewing them from A to Z. All without any training since you only need to insert a capsule and wait about two weeks to enjoy 'a cold beer. A notification arrives on the smartphone when finished.

Then we turn to the fridge, an InstaView Door-in-Door model with a semi-transparent OLED screen. Tap twice on this window, and the inside of the fridge is exposed. But this AI ThinQ boosted screen goes far beyond that. He can, for example, suggest recipes based on what is in the fridge. It can also connect to services like Amazon's virtual Dash buttons – which then appear as stickers on the glass screen, and allow you to order supplies in less time than it takes to say.

LG Styler, washing machine… or how to reduce the chore of maintaining clothes

Finally we turn to the laundry room. First with a device that will undoubtedly turn many heads: the LG Styler. Just put your clothes of the day in the LG Styler, sit in front of the TV and ask them to start cleaning. The LG Styler is a smart health connected closet in which you put your clothes. So far nothing extraordinary. Except that behind the closed door, a combination of movements and steam that diffuses into the fabrics relaxes the fibers and cleans and deodorizes the clothes (the process kills 99.99% of germs) … while ironing them!

Smartphone notifications provide information on the status of the cycle. It is also possible you were told to start a voice program. We will have to wait a little longer, we are told, for the product to arrive in France – but it is already available in Germany for 1568 €. Even at this price, it is hard to imagine that it will sell well, as it brings a new service to the health home. However, be careful, if the clothes have visible soiling, it must be washed otherwise.

For this, there is one of the last washing machines of the brand. Again doped with IA ThinQ. They are able to precisely adapt the cycle to the type of spots. Thus, the LG representative who guided us in this house concluded his presentation by asking the washing machine to clean up traces of fresh herbs. The laundry in the machine, you just have to forget it, while waiting for the cycle to end. We leave this smart health connected house backwards … anticipating returning to a much less futuristic accommodation. At least, when the urge to connect everything takes hold, we will know that LG has some pretty good solutions in store!
