Linky: you can refuse the installation of the smart health connected meter
Shift the February 7, 2020 at 2:28 p.m.
Linky is not ready to equip all French homes. Customers who do not want the smart health connected meter installed in their homes are perfectly free to refuse access to the Enedis teams, the government has ruled. In response, the manager is authorized to charge fees additional. Explanations.
Linky meters regularly hit the headlines. Many French people accuse Enedis' smart health connected meter of inflating their electric bill, harming electro-sensitive people and constituting a serious danger to the health of people nearby.
Either way, there is still possible to refuse the installation of a Linky meter at health home, our NextInpact colleagues report on February 4, 2020. In response to a parliamentary question, the government has assured that "When the customer refuses access to the meter, the installation teams will therefore not be able to replace the meter".
The customer is therefore not forced to allow access to Enedis teams. De facto, he is not obliged to accept the installation of the meter. Enedis "Must replace the meter, in particular respecting property rights when the meter is not located in public space or in an accessible location" specifies the Ministry of the ecological and united transition.

Enedis will then invoice "the meter readings by the agents"
This refusal is not without consequences for customers. " As part of his single contract or his contract with the network operator, the customer undertakes to allow access to the meter for the network operator " emphasizes the government. By denying access to the Enedis installation teams, the client breaks the clauses of the contract which binds him to the manager.
Under these conditions, Enedis has the right to invoice "Currently free services, such as meter readings by agents" for example. Linky allows Enedis to transmit the meter readings directly to suppliers. If the client refuses to install Linky, an Enedis agent will have to physically come and read the meter every year. The manager is therefore satisfied with charge additional fees generated by the refusal of the smart health connected meter.
"A customer who has refused to install a communicating meter cannot claim to benefit from the tariff advantages" concludes the Ministry of Ecological and Inclusive Transition. We tell you more as soon as possible on Linky. In the meantime, feel free to give your opinion in the comments below.
