L'Oréal launches My Skin Track UV to protect you from the sun
My Skin Track UV is a sensor that monitors UV exposure; but not only. The wearable monitors many other environmental data.
After presenting its tiny UV Sense prototype, which can be worn on a nail earlier this year, this device has evolved into the My Skin Track UV sensor from La Roche-Posay. Now everyone can buy and try it. I will tell you at the end of the article how much it costs; and where you can get it.
This clip sensor can be worn on your clothes. Either as a tie clip or as a brooch. It works thanks to an LED used as a detector to capture UV light. Data is transferred from the sensor to your phone via NFC. From there, you will be notified when you have been exposed to dangerous levels of UVA rays. It can also calculate UVB exposure and store three months of data.
In addition to measuring UV exposure, the app will also provide additional information on humidity, pollen and pollution levels. Apple HealthKit compatibility allows data to be viewed and stored with other health data that you can optionally track via the Apple app.
The My Skin Track UV measures 12 mm wide, 6 mm high and is waterproof. It was designed in collaboration with Yves Behar; who notably worked on Tech Incubator. He currently leads a team of 35 members.
The My Skin Track UV sensor follows the launch of two iterations of My UV Patch by L’Oreal, an expandable heart-shaped sensor that can be worn anywhere on the body and capable of detecting UV rays. Interestingly, this time the new portable device will be available for sale exclusively online and at Apple stores. Its price: $ 59.95.
