Lorica is a brand new smart health connected armor created by an Australian start up which wants to rekindle interest in combat sports and why not update gladiator fights.

Lorica, the modernized armor

Thesmart health connected armor, baptized Lorica (after the name of armor in Roman times), was designed by Australian society Unified Weapons Master. Made in carbon fiber (very light material), Lorica armor completely covers the body of the athlete in order to offer him full protection.

Thanks to Lorica the athletes no longer take risks when they fight. To demonstrate this, the Australian firm carried out a Review session: a load of about 600 kg was carried at the head of a fighter with a tomahawk (in other words a kind of hatchet). Result: this one escaped unscathed.

Even if the security aspect is perfected, the armor has still need some modifications, mainly at the level of ease of movement.

A gladiatorial fight 2.0

Unified Weapons Master is currently working on his project televised competition where fighters can compete in different combat sports without ever retaining their blows or even fighting with weapons. A modern but safe version of gladiatorial combat.

The Australian firm hopes to be able to broadcast its first television competition in 2020.
