Losing fat and losing weight: what's the difference?

Losing weight, okay, but then it's better to lose fat rather than muscle. How to do it ?

The body contains water, organs, muscles, fat … When the individual loses weight, he can lose fat, but also muscle. To avoid losing muscle, it is important to exercise physical.

However, by exercising, the body can gain muscle and not necessarily lose weight because muscle is denser than fat. This is why the measurement of the waist measurement can be a more interesting indicator than the weight.

Thanks to an impedancemetry scale, it is possible to know the composition of your body in fats and to measure its evolution. In a normal weight man, the mass fat accounts for about 15% to 20% of the weight, while in women, this proportion is about 25% to 30%.

Sport and protein to keep muscle

Generally, for gain muscle, you must exercise and consume protein, which can be found in food (animal or vegetable protein) or in food supplements.

Energy expenditure depends on different parameters such as sex, age, activity, lean body mass … Thanks to sport, the body can gain muscle; as muscle mass influences the metabolism base (at rest), the more muscular the organism, the more the basic metabolism increases.

Finally, certain food supplements are marketed as " fat burners ". They consist in activating the lysis of lipids in fat cells (the adipocytes), increasing the body's basic metabolism.
