Lua – A smart health connected pot to keep your plants healthy

Like a tamagotchi, Lua is a smart health connected little pot that will keep your plants healthy. Indoor plants can be a great way to add pops of color to a dull interior. But they can also help purify the air and can even fill a room with pleasant smells. However, taking care of can be a little complicated … but that was before.

Lua was designed to help you; transforming plant care alerts into pretty animated faces in front of the pot. As I told you, the idea behind Lua is a bit similar to that of digital keychain pets from years ago. You had to feed them, play with them, and generally take the time to find a way to keep them healthy. With this plant pot filled with sensors, you should do the same for your houseplant.

A 2.4-inch LCD screen on the front displays a simple animated face that changes according to the plant's needs. It will present a thirsty face when the soil humidity falls below a defined threshold, a sick face if you water it too much, a smiling vampire if it does not get enough light, etc. These animations are the result of data collected by sensors integrated into Lua.

There is also a motion sensor so that eyes can follow you as you pass the plant. Also, a QR code scanner allows you to configure the system and transfer information from the sensor to a smartphone app. There are also other animated faces, including a wink, a tired face and a happy face.

The pot measures 15 x 16 cm, weighs 500 g, sits in its own saucer and is powered by USB. Lua looks like a fun and modern way to take care of your houseplants. He is currently raising production funds on Indiegogo. Pre-orders start at 99 euros and if everything goes as planned delivery should start in December.
