LumiSmart is a desk lamp smart connected via WiFi, encased in LEDs and sensors and which can be controlled from a smartphone.

When it comes to smart lamps, many people think of Luxo, the animated lamp from Pixar studios. Who has never dreamed of having this lamp at health home? An original and intelligent lamp. This is now possible thanks to health home automation and the Korean company Magic Eco who developed LumiSmart, a smart health connected and intelligent desk lamp encased in sensors. LumiSmart, what is it?

LumiSmart is an LED desk lamp smart health connected by Wifi to the internet. This connection allows him tobe controlled remotely from an Android or iOS smartphone.

Its originality comes from the various directly integrated sensors. On the program, we find a light sensor to adapt the lighting, a temperature and humidity sensor to offer a view of the environment in which the user operates, a microphone for voice recognition, a camera for filming and taking pictures, a motion sensor to ensure the presence of the user and a loud speaker to stream music. In short, to say that never has a lamp been so well equipped.

All these sensors integrated in a simple lamp make it possible to make life easier for the user thanks to predefined scenarios.

LumiSmart in reality, what does it look like?

A lamp that reacts to scenarios, we must admit that it is not convenient. But what types of scenarios are available? A very large number. Indeed, the user can decide that the lamp turns off automatically when it no longer detects movement or when it takes a picture or turns on when it detects movement. It is also possible to set up push notifications to be alerted in real time when the temperature cools down or when movements are detected, for example.

Apart from the scenarios, LumiSmart stands out from traditional lamps thanks to theLED integration which allow reduce electricity consumption but also thanks to the light sensor which delivers a optimal lighting according to ambient light. Note that the scenario programming interface is extremely easy to use to allow anyone and everyone to use the lamp as they see fit. Too bad, however, that the lamp base is not articulated, which would have offered full control of the device (raising the lamp remotely for example).

Passed through a crowdfunding campaign on the IndieGogo website and available from September 2014 for $ 199, LumiSmart is probably theone of the most complete smart health connected objects on the market.

But doesn’t this avalanche of sensors present a risk of misunderstanding on the part of users? A large number of smart health connected objects are content to improve an existing product such as scales or pedometers. Most of them are single function products. LumiSmart is therefore against the grain with a multi-function product combining both environmental control, energy optimization and monitoring functions.
