MACH 4, the first robot pharmacy system

Hamad General Hospital in Doha (Qatar) launched MACH 4, a robotic pharmacy system, on April 16. A robot to reduce patient waiting times.

On April 16, Dr. Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari, Minister of Public Health of Qatar, inaugurated MACH 4 Omnicell at Hamad General Hospital. It is a new robotics system that could reduce patient wait times in hospital pharmacies. And thus facilitate the work of pharmacists by allowing them to be more in contact with customers. The pharmacies of tomorrow should be increasingly robotic.

MACH 4, a most powerful robot

MACH 4 is a robotic pharmacy system. It is the combination of two robots in reality, MEDIMAT and Speedbox. They then work together to manage the two complex prescriptions and also allow rapid movement of the most requested items. Their storage capacity is quite impressive with 14,000 packs for both. In addition, the MACH 4 system could distribute up to 1200 prescriptions per hour.

For better efficiency

The record capacities of this new robotic pharmacy system could facilitate the work of pharmacists. Indeed they can only treat up to 1800 prescriptions per day. It would therefore take MACH 4 only an hour and a half to do the same. During this time the pharmacists can be in direct contact with the client. In addition, MEDIMAT and Speedbox can also best avoid errors in reading prescriptions. The efficiency would be all the greater. This therefore considerably reduces the waiting time for patients.

There is also a similar robotic pharmacy system at another Al Wakra hospital. The project should be rolled out more widely in the coming months. They will therefore be able to provide drugs more effectively. This could give many ideas. Imagine seeing your pharmacy equipped with these robots and thus wait a lot less to have your medicines. It will be possible. Also discover Nanomedicine, the doctors of the future.
