Master & Dynamic MW07 PLUS: the complete Review
[ad_1]
In 2018, the New York brand Master & Dynamic had surprised by launching the first excellent true wireless headphones, the MW07. They had established themselves among the very best on the market, despite the fact that the company is a small thumb in the face of giants like Sony or Apple. Almost two years later, the manufacturer updated its model, renaming it MW07 Plus.
Master & Dynamic first promises three times more autonomy than the first generation. The promise is fully kept since our lab measured a continuous operation of 8:02 am, against 2:44 for the first MW07. The progress is significant and the result is among the best on the market. The manufacturer promises another thirty hours with the case. It can charge headphones up to 50% in 15 minutes and 100% in 40 minutes.
We have known more effective noise reduction
The other big news is the integration of an active noise reduction system like the Apple AirPods Pro or Sony WF-1000XM3. Unfortunately for Master & Dynamic, the brand will have to progress in this area to imagine one day competing with these two manufacturers.
Noise reduction is not as effective as that offered on their devices. In transport, background noise is partly masked, but the lowest frequencies still filter towards our eardrums. Note that when noise reduction is activated, the overall autonomy is significantly reduced to 7 h 28.
Always excellent sound quality
On the left earpiece, the volume buttons can also be used to switch off this noise reduction (long press on "low volume") or to switch to transparency mode (long press on "high volume"). The latter is not as effective as what can be found, for example, on AirPods Pro which give the impression of no longer having headphones in your ears. On MW07 Plus, we feel that the microphones that pick up the sound outside to feed it back into the headphones are not of high quality. The sound thus perceived is deteriorated and therefore not as clear as with the Apple model.
This does not affect the sound quality of these headphones, which remains excellent. The first version appealed to us, which is still the case here. If the frequency response curve measured by our lab shows a certain propensity to accentuate the high mids, the MW07 Plus offer a precise and rich sound signature in all frequencies. These headphones will adapt perfectly to all styles of music, from the powerful bass of hip-hop to the nuances and the dynamics of classical music.
