Meyko, the robot that helps sick children take their medicine

The Meyko robot wants to revolutionize the management of illnesses for children by bringing a playful side to taking medication.

Too little is said about it, but children with chronic illnesses and their families sometimes (often) see treatment as a burden. The inventors of Meyko wanted to play it down with a cute object that will transform it into a fun ritual.

With the Meyko robot, taking your medicine becomes a game

The device consists of a small humanoid with funny shapes linked to a mobile application. When the time for taking the medication arrives, the Meyko robot alert the parent with a notification on his smartphone. For its part, the android displays a sad look with its mouth and bright eyes.

To restore his good humor, the child will have to come with his medicine behind him. The mini robot detects the latter with a special tag. Once the child has taken his treatment, he squeezes Meyko’s two small hands, which instantly regains his spirits.

Valuable help for parents and doctors

But Meyko is not just a robot that encourages children to take their treatment, it is alsoa real control panel of it. It’s all in the parent-managed mobile app.

Thus, they can program the modalities of the medication on a daily basis and provide additional information (complication, symptoms, etc.). Of course, it is also a great tool for medical follow-up whose data can be shared with the doctor of the child.

Finally, we can more easily delegate the medication to a nanny or any other third party thanks to the information compiled in the application.

The Meyko robot is already available at launch price of 129 euros via the manufacturer's website (normal sales price of 178 euros). In any case, this e-health device for children is a great idea (and a wonderful night light at night).
