Mi Band Xiaomi V2 is called AmazFit

Chinese Xiaomi created a real explosion in Western markets when he introduced his first smart health connected bracelet, the Mi Band. He has just announced the new generation of his physical activity sensor, named AmazFit.

No, Amazon has not launched into the smart health connected bracelets: AmazFit is the new physical activity sensor of the low-cost brand Xiaomi. His aesthetic is reminiscent of the design of his great Chinese-American rival Misfit and his Shine – a little less elaborate. Like its competitor, the sensor can be placed around the wrist as well as in a pendant (accessory extra). On the images put forward by the manufacturer, it seems that the female clientele is the first target for this sensor. In terms of materials, Xiaomi bet on zirconium dioxide.

The new AmazFit does not measure heart rate

On the new AmazFit Xiaomi, we find globally the same features as the previous model. In this case, the sensor measures the daily physical activity (number of steps, distances and calories burned) as well as the quality of sleep. Users can use the vibrate mode to be woken up smoothly, or be warned of notifications from their smartphone. However, we may regret that the new Xiaomi does not ship with heart rate sensor, as rumors announced.

Among the advantages that this new activity sensor provides, note first of all the autonomy is 10 days (with induction charging), almost twice as much as the main smart health connected bracelets market. Another advantage is that the Xiaomi AmazFit is completely waterproof and dust-proof: no need to remove it in the shower, or even in the pool. IOS and Android compatibility will be respected, like the previous model.

In terms of price, the new Xiaomi AmazFit should be significantly more expensive than the previous model. It will be 299 yuan, about 41 euros. The well-known Chinese for the low-cost is getting dangerously close to the American Quantified Self leaders Fitbit and Jawbone, whose entry-level models are being marketed for $ 49. Xiaomi has announced the availability of its sensor in black and white version in mid-October on its official website.
