Microsoft Band partners with MapMyRide

Since last October, the Microsoft Band has been available on the American market. Arrived recently in the United Kingdom, and still not available in continental Europe, the brand's smart health connected bracelet is already undergoing major updates …

Microsoft Band could appeal to cyclists

Microsoft has confirmed that it is not yet working on a new bracelet design, but that it continues to pursue its goal of making it useful for as many people as possible. While compatible with the main mobile operating systems (iOS, Android and Windows Phone), the Band does not currently cover all sports – but it intends to remedy it. The Redmond company has just announced a partnership with the MapMyRide and Strava applications. Cyclists wearing the Microsoft Band will be able to send the data from their smart health connected bracelet to the two mobile applications tomorrow, and thus share their performance in real time with other competitors.

Mobile data retrieved by the application

Another novelty, the application Microsoft Health App will be able to recover data recorded by smartphones and directly add them to its application. It's the same principle as a Google Fit or the Withings Health Mate app. Users will be able to recover the number of steps and calories burned directly on their application, without having to wear their smart health connected bracelet. This will keep them from having a "hole" in their application history if they ever forget to wear the Microsoft Band.

(Finally) intelligent data?

Latest news announced in the Press release, the display of information on the mobile application will be slightly modified (from April 27). The brand seeks to go further than raw data and wants to make it intelligent. To do this, it will compare user data with that of community members with a similar profile (weight and height). The application also intends to make sports sessions more intelligent, by marking the evolution of user performance over time and by calculating which day the wearer performed best.
