Minnesota Timberwolves sign partnership with Fitbit

This is a major announcement for the wearables market leader who becomes an NBA team jersey sponsor: the Minnesota Timberwolves. In addition to this, Fitbit technology will be available to players, a first at this level.

The contract is signed for a period of 3 years and the Timberwolves (NBA), Lynx (WNBA) and Iowa Wolves (G-League) will have a crest on the jersey during some matches. Of course, the rules prohibit players from wearing wearables on the wrist during a match, but they will use it in their daily lives and during training.

To go even further, the G-League team (a sort of incubator of players, referees and coach for the NBA) will be a laboratory for Fitbit to Review new uses for fitness and sleep monitoring at a professional level.

Tim Rosa, CMO of Fitbit stated that"Having access to some of the most trained athletes in the world every day to analyze the impact of sleep and hydration on performance was very interesting for both coaches, Fitbit's research teams and players".

The fans will also have an enriched Fitbit experience during the match. The brand will set up an option to automatically add to the user app the nutritional data of snacks purchased at the game. If the NFC comes to be integrated into the brand's future products, there is no doubt that the contactless payment will also be there, Fitbit has bought several startups in this universe.

Check out a short video of Zach Lavine presenting the partnership, Fitbit Blaze on the wrist. If you do not know who he is I also put you a short video of his 2015 dunk contest, which he flew over.
