mobile applications dedicated to ophthalmological pathologies

[ad_1]

At the last congress of the SFO (French Society of Ophthalmology), the Novartis laboratory launched two new mobile applications for people suffering from vision disorders: ViaOpta Sim and ViaOpta Daily. Discovery.

For people with vision problems, the simplest gestures of everyday life can be difficult, movement becomes complicated, and social life suffers. In addition, the disease is not always understood by loved ones and more generally by the general public, and it is sometimes difficult to understand what patients experience on a daily basis.

To meet these needs, the Novartis laboratory makes two mobile applications available to the general public to understand vision disorders and facilitate the daily lives of patients and those around them: ViaOpta Sim and ViaOpta Daily.

ViaOpta Sim: application to understand the daily life of a person affected by low vision

The ViaOpta Sim application simulates the symptoms associated with various eye pathologies and gives all users the opportunity to project themselves into what these patients are going through, and to "see" with their eyes. This is a real technological tool which allows us to understand the visual universe of people suffering from vision problems. Just film directly with a smartphone or tablet and vary the severity of the symptoms. With this application, users can immerse themselves in the daily life of people with the following ophthalmic pathologies:

  • Wet or Dry Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD)

  • Central Retinal Vein Occlusion (OVCR)

  • Venous Retinal Branch Occlusion (OBVR)

  • Choroidal neo-vascularization secondary to myopia (mvcv)

  • Diabetic retinopathy

  • Diabetic Macular Edema (MDG)

  • Glaucoma

  • Vitreo-Macular Traction Syndrome (TVM)

  • Cataract

ViaOpta Daily: providing an answer to the daily difficulties encountered by people with vision disorders

Designed to simplify daily activities, ViaOpta Daily is the first free application grouping together so many features intended to make life easier for people with vision problems. From recognizing objects, colors, banknotes to reading text, through easy access to favorite contacts, this application is a real environmental scanner!

Users can also more easily check the weather, access a timer or even use the magnifying glass feature to read small characters. All with voice assistance. Thanks to this application, users will now be able to easily coordinate the colors of their clothes, pay for their purchases in cash and decipher the fine print of certain documents. ViaOpta Daily aims to be a real daily companion, it takes advantage of the smartphone camera and audio description to recognize objects, read texts or describe scenes.
