For those who are not fortunate enough to have a friend or coach available to motivate them to play sports, the Moov startup promises wearables that can help users meet their physical goals.

Moov products are wearables that can give you real-time feedback for your intensive training. The founders, Meng Li, Nikola Hu, and Tony Yuan, wanted to develop a virtual personal assistant that could intervene with appropriate moments to help the athlete progress. So far, the group has sold wearables that help improve swimming, running, cycling and even boxing training, all without a coach. From now on, Moov products will be able to measure cardiac activity.

Their new sensors, baptized Moov Sweatshirt for the frontal band and Moov Swim for the swim cap, are only a fraction of what the company anticipates. Moov announcing at the same time a $ 12 million Series B fundraising Mangrove Capital with the participation of BOE Technology Group. This fundraising will feed R & D and finance the marketing of current products.

In an interview, the founders wished to demonstrate the inadequacy of heart rate monitors currently on the market. A tester thus carried both a Fitbit and the new banner Moov HR Sweatshirt by performing a flexion session. After exercise, both devices displayed measures that differed by 30 beats per minute!

Meng Li explained that the choice to measure wrist pulse was more than questionable. Current technologies combine hardware and software to illuminate the capillaries and thus visually capture beats according to changes in blood flow. The new Moov devices do not revolutionize this process but, by choosing to position themselves on the front, they can have much more reliable results.

Once the measurement methodology was improved, the team then focused on the coaching feature. Starting from the observation of fitness coaches during sessions, they developed the vocal coach Moov, thought to record the past performance of the athlete over more than a hundred exercises. With this data, the Moov can intervene during sessions. Moov's team intends to continue to raise funds to make his coach more and more effective. For the moment the waterproof audio systems are not sufficiently mature to allow this functionality on the Moov bathing cap; the Moov headband is the only one to benefit from the advice of the coach.

Finally, users will be able to access, through the application, their cardiac data, both in the form of electrocardiogram and digital representation. After the end of the session, this data can be shared on the Moov Leaderboard or other social media.
