Mui – A wooden panel to control your health home automation

With the Mui wooden panel, you will forget about E Ink or OLED screens. With the Mui interactive wooden display, currently being funded on Kickstarter, you can choose a sycamore, cherry, maple or ash panel to send and receive messages, check news and weather and control your health home automation system.

Via IFTTT, Mui can also connect to a Google health home, Amazon Echo, Philips Hue system, Sonos speakers, and other smart health connected devices.

I had a glimpse of Mui last year and the least I can say is that I was impressed with its design and functionality. The display is activated when you touch the surface; displaying a minimalist menu which disappears when the panel returns to standby mode.

If you want to pre-order a Mui, it will cost you $ 499; it's a bit expensive. Then, after the end of presales in September 2019, will amount to 999 dollars; it's way too expensive … Mui also offers a developer version at 999 dollars, delivered with the Mui SDK and a Raspberry Pi connector; to allow you to develop new IFTTT recipes.

A "block of wood smart health connected to the internet" … You had to think about it, but I find it both brilliant and hyper aesthetic. But Mui's greatest strength is his ability to integrate digital platforms into everyday life; in a warm and non-intrusive manner. "Today, most homes and offices are designed to incorporate technology rather than meet the needs of the users of these spaces"; explains the company on its Kickstarter page. "We created this product to reverse this trend and make digital more nature-centric."

As I told you, this product is currently funded by Kickstarter and its shipment is scheduled for September 2019. As always, use your discretion when you pre-order a product using crowdfunding; as they may experience delays or not be delivered.
