My UV – The new UV sensor from L'Oréal and La Roche-Posay
After unveiling its first UV last year, L’Oréal has just unveiled the new My UV Patch. This new opus mainly differs by offering a configuration more suitable for children and an enriched companion application.
My UV Patch is marketed by one of the L’Oréal group's brands, the La Roche-Posay brand. Like the first version, the elastic and waterproof heart-shaped sensor can be worn anywhere in the body. However, it is still advisable to wear it by hand or on the wrist. To alert its user, it uses a series of photosensitive dyes that change color when exposed to UV rays.
With the My UV Patch companion application, compatible with iOS and Android, you can take a photo of the patch and upload it to the application so that the latter detects UV levels and offers advice; such as when to put on sunscreen. With the heat and the sun that we currently have in France, it is better to protect yourself from UV rays.
With version 2 of the My UV Patch, changes have also been made to the application. You can now track sun exposure for multiple users. Ideal for families traveling to a sunny country. Smart reminders have also been added so as not to alert a user who is not outside.
La Roche-Posay hopes to be able to encourage children to use the patch and has therefore added a system rewarding them with points to unlock prizes each time they take a picture of their patch. The new Patch My UV is now available on the La Roche-Posay website. An offer currently offers a small pack including two patches and a tube of Anthelios Dermo-Kids sunscreen. You might as well not miss it!
